Employee ownership is also good for business. Companies see an increase in productivity by 4 to 5% the year the business becomes employee-owned. They are less likely than comparable businesses to lay off workers in economic downturns, and they are less likely to go bankrupt.

Senator, you should look into the John Lewis Partnership, a hugely popular retail giant in the UK. All employees are partners, and they’re a real success story. A model for employee ownership best practice. Cheers!

What about a maximum wage for CEOs dependent on worker wages as well?

I'd like to hear more about that. I remember a big push for employee ownership back in the day, then the furor just all went away.

As a retired small business owner, employees are glad to share in the profits when times are good. But when times get hard and work slows down, the boss/owners cut back. The employees don't want to cut back. It isn't a two way street. They'll leave in a moment for someone else.

Actually there is nothing wrong with it. The problem is who are you to tell a business how it should or should not compensate its employees? If an employee does not like it they can go work elsewhere.

Employee ownership is a great idea unless it is forced by legislation. Legislating it would be a horrible terrible idea, getting the US closer to the third world. Maybe you need to travel a little.

We need either a tax % for the wealthy or a salary cap, no human on earth needs nor are they worth more than 500k a year. If they can’t live on that they don’t deserve to live on this planet.
