One of the first truly fresh and innovative ideas from congress in a long while. Bravo, Senator.

It is definitely a good idea, but calling it "fresh and innovative" is a stretch. It's already reality in many countries, including the UK, France, Germany, China, Brazil, Israel, India… I wish the US would copy good ideas more often. Say, universal healthcare and free college.

All of you against this, the USPS did provide banking services until 1966. And it worked.http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/history/2014/08/postal_banking_already_worked_in_the_usa_and_it_will_work_again.html …

Japan has had a bank through their postal system for some time now and while I don’t participate, I can see its convenience, especially for rural communities. Sounds good to me! More options can only help!
-
I can't worry about Japan. I live in USA. Not another country give me answers that can help America's not Japanese.

Actually what the poor needs are jobs. When was the last time you created one?
-
Unemployment is below 5%?
-
Not in rural America it's not.
-
You know what people used to do when there were no jobs somewhere? They moved to where there were jobs.

Oh my God! A post office service that loses billions of dollars is now going to be bankers? An amoeba brain could not have come up with anything more stupid. Typical Democrat/Communist, create a fix that creates a bigger problem.

The same neighborhoods that don’t have financial services, also lost their post offices.

It's a good way for you to make up ground after the Al Franken disaster you signed on to.

We've spent trillions in the democrat entitlement plantation, we've totally destroyed black families, and the problem keeps getting worse. And senator lightweights answer? DOUBLE DOWN

@SenGillibrand...You haven't created jobs for the poor, you put the illegals 1st over Americans. Your values are not in the best interest of the U.S.! Gillibrand inherited Hillary Clinton’s seat to start.https://votesmart.org/candidate/key-votes/65147/kirsten-gillibrand#.WuXZbf8pCaM …Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better.
