In the nine weeks since educators in West Virginia organized a walkout, a movement has sparked for adequate pay and critical classroom resources. Today, teachers in Arizona and Colorado raised their voices to rally for more funding.

Teacher pay and per-pupil spending in Arizona are among the lowest in the nation. In Colorado, teacher pay is about $7,000 below the national average. Teachers are struggling to make ends meet, and students are without critical resources like current textbooks and supplies.

Teachers across the country are demanding better for our kids. Let’s stand with them in their fight for fair pay and better resources for students. To the teachers walking out today: We hear you. We stand with you.

Twitter is, at least, partially a platform for politicians to pretend like they actually give a flip. Like a non-stop stump speech for things that sound great but will never happen.

If they went on strike during the weekend it wouldn't be much of a strike now would it lol. It is like you don't even understand how it works.

What other job would you willingly buy supplies for the client when your employer should be. Teachers should not have to pay for supplies for students that state/schools should be buying.

Teachers are Union members. The could care less about children! It's about the money and power as all Unions are. No Government Employee should be in a Union negotiating against the people that pay them; taxpayers. It's Communist and you know it. Even FDR wasn't this stupid.

          N. City School System, budget is $42 mil with only 1750 students... ($24k per student). Seems like the problem is government bureaucracy and unfunded mandates, not money given to schools.

But here in New York where teacher salaries and per-pupil spending are well above the national average, the results aren’t impressive. Teacher pay is not a solution to education challenges. https://www.empirecenter.org/publications/nys-stratospheric-school-spending/ …

When I was a kid, I remember my mom telling someone she was a teacher. That person responded with, "Oh, so you don't make very much [money]." That was 1976. So, you claim, you "hear [us]". When did that start? April 26, 2018? A tad post-facto. But, it sounds heroic, no?
