Teacher pay and per-pupil spending in Arizona are among the lowest in the nation. In Colorado, teacher pay is about $7,000 below the national average. Teachers are struggling to make ends meet, and students are without critical resources like current textbooks and supplies.

Teachers across the country are demanding better for our kids. Let’s stand with them in their fight for fair pay and better resources for students. To the teachers walking out today: We hear you. We stand with you.

Then find a different job. You failed to mention they work nine months out of the year, have holidays and vacation days off throughout the year and Summers off. Next!!!

teachers dedicated to money, are not dedicated to a good education. the teachers of the 1950's and 60's where highly underpaid. but were extremely dedicated, to children's education.

Teachers in the 50's also had updated equipment, small class sizes, parent support in discipline, and respect from students, parents, administration, and the community. Oh and not sure if you noticed, but the cost of living was much different then too.

please specify what, updated equipment to support your argument. but even if you adjusted for the cost of living, it was still far cheaper than today. and one person, working per household with one job was sufficient.
