If there’s one thing we should all agree on, it’s this: Every kid should have healthy, nutritious and fresh food. I’m introducing legislation, called the SNAP for Kids Act, to expand nutrition assistance to families who need it.

Republicans and President Trump are going the wrong direction. House Republicans just released a plan that could kick millions of households off of the current SNAP program.

Let’s say it together, and let’s say it loud: We should help make sure more families and children can eat, not less.

It breaks my heart to think of girls and boys coming home from school and finding nothing for them to eat. Ending hunger is a moral issue, and it’s something all of us need to fight for.

We face an uphill battle in this Congress and with this White House, so I’ll need you to raise your voices to demand justice. We can’t rest while millions of kids go to bed at night on empty stomachs. We can pass legislation to tackle the hunger crisis, and we must.

You know what really pisses me off we have food programs in place yet the parents rather spend their EBT cards on drugs, cigarettes and alcohol! Fix that program NOW! #EnoughISEnough #StoptakingMyMoney #TaxationIsTheft #Taxday #WelfareProgram #EBTCards

Belle, I agree with part of what you typed, maybe not the anger behind it. How do you suggest this country fixes that problem. I agree there has to be accountability to people who have tuned out of being parents.

I’m more angry at the parents that they abuse the system instead of feeding their kids. Here is an article that I like http://www.floppingaces.net/2013/04/04/a-solution-to-food-stamp-fraud-that-both-sides-can-agree-on-reader-post/ …

The article has valid points around cutting out fraud. Not caring so much about micro managing calories. This doesn’t talk about absent parenting though.

Where is your justice for the millions of kids murdered by abortion that you so proudly support? We don't need to worry about feeding kids who have been denied the chance at life you were given.

You mean the state of New York can take millions from the state treasury to provide legal services for illegal aliens, but can’t give starving children food! In this economy, if you are not working usually you are already getting supplemented by the government.

Americans donate hefty amounts as well to food banks. If USA has trillions in deficits defund planned parenthood and encourage women to go to their PCP. Get the AFT and NEA out of our schools. These unions are bankrupting our towns and cities
