Republicans and President Trump are going the wrong direction. House Republicans just released a plan that could kick millions of households off of the current SNAP program.

Let’s say it together, and let’s say it loud: We should help make sure more families and children can eat, not less.

It breaks my heart to think of girls and boys coming home from school and finding nothing for them to eat. Ending hunger is a moral issue, and it’s something all of us need to fight for.

We face an uphill battle in this Congress and with this White House, so I’ll need you to raise your voices to demand justice. We can’t rest while millions of kids go to bed at night on empty stomachs. We can pass legislation to tackle the hunger crisis, and we must.

America used to be about taking care of those who need help...children, elderly, sick, poor, those with disabilities. Restore goodness!

Folks don't realize that there's already a work requirement attached to SNAP benefits for those that are able bodies. People's wages not keeping up with inflation/reality is why we need SNAP to be available.

You are so right about this, and I almost always agree with you. Proud you represent me. Why are you so silent about gun reform? Are you afraid of your small town constituents? They want sensible gun reform too. Sponsor a bill on gun reform.
#never again -
Living in NY, we benefit from stricter gun laws than many places in America. Isn’t good enough, we need gun reform on the federal level. Let’s start with banning Automatic Rifles.
#Enough PS - Keep calling GOP out on their hypocrisy and Greed. -
Oh yea NU is so safe. Lmao. Its a shithole.

NYC is ridiculously safe for an American city it's size. What are you talking about? NYC is one of the safest urban areas in the country. The worst, St. Louis, has more than 19x the murder rate of NYC.
-
Just saying gun reform is needed, here and nationwide. My son's school put on lockdown over shooting threats twice this year. Right here in NYC. I love this city, but I want gun reform.
-
Sure. I was just making fun of the jackass who hasn't noticed that NYC isn't still what it was in the late 1970's. And Gillibrand is very much for gun reform, so...

Really? Haven't heard a word from her on the subject since she went on the Colbert show. I would be delighted to learn that she's actually doing something.
-
Not sure what you think she can do right now, considering we're in the minority. But she's hardly been quiet on the subject.https://twitter.com/SenGillibrand/status/982712639133569026 …

Are you so poor that you can't afford a few bucks so kids don't starve? Sad. My family has better finances than that. But then, we're liberals.
-
Being Liberal is a badge of honor. We care about things that help people live better lives, that’s something all good citizens should support.

How is it against the constitution to provide food for poor kids? using that argument, your kids shouldn't have been allowed to go to public school.

Nope. That's not how laws work. The constitution doesn't suggest that anything not enumerated within it is unconstitutional.
