There’s a movement growing across this country, from West Virginia to Oklahoma and Arizona to Kentucky, and now in Colorado. Educators are raising their voices for fair pay and adequate resources to help their students succeed.

When these teachers speak out, they’re fighting for all of us – especially our kids. They’re asking for the chance to focus their energy on giving students the best education possible. We need to stand with them.

Colorado teachers walked out today. Teacher pay in that state ranks 46th in the country. Educators are paid about $7,000 less than the national average. This can’t be how we treat people who dedicate their lives to our shared future.

The Colorado Education Association found that teachers spend an average of $656 from their own pockets, each year, to make sure their students have what they need. This is the wrong way to fund our kids’ education.

As more teachers organize and raise their voices, they need to hear from us. Let’s tell teachers now: We’re with you. Stay with it, and stay together. And thank you for caring for our kids and their futures as you do for your own.

Not surprising to see Colorado join the list, when adjusting for regional price parity the average salary of Colorado teachers is 5th worst in the nation.https://twitter.com/itsjohnjacobs/status/985579281681211392 …

I spend closer to $1000 a year and have been since year one. Multiply that by the 27 years I’ve been teaching.

I know the difference - a US senator representing or supposed to be repping NYers! Her tweet was to meant to grab her some name recognition. She’s working it for a 2020 shot in Pres election. Not concerned -just self motivated. @CheleFarley @realDonaldTrump

they also work 180 days a yr, less than 6.5 hrs teaching kids per day. its funny how teachers always claim they teach because they love kids yet first chance they get they use them to get more money
