Instead, pass the burden onto struggling families and working poor? That makes tons of sense.

I think more and more young people are not drinking cow milk, they know about the abuse at dairies and are drinking soy and almond now. Many are vegetarians now too. Times are changing. ..
-
Actually demand for milk is up
-
I'm just speaking for the milennials I know. I don't drink it either. ..
-
Drink what you want but don't cry to me when sprawl consumes beautiful habitats, open lands
-
I drink water and wine. ..you sound angry.
-
I am angry watching beautiful farm landscapes consumed by subdivision, wildlife habitats trashed
-
Yes, me too. I live in orange grove country where it's as far as one can see. Now, they are struggling due to a greening virus. Not angry about that. Many are being burned. ..

Historically low? Bahahahahahahahaha $4.59 for store brand organic half gallon. Yeah so low
-
You know how much a dairy farmer gets for every 100 gallons of milk? As of Feb 22, it was $13.36. The $4.59 per gallon of organic your paying is marked up by half a dozen in-betweens and anything ORGANIC has a premium price tacked on top of it.
-
Per gallon? That’s what we pay for a half gallon!
-
Yes and DO THE MATH, of that 4.59 per half gallon you spent how much did the farmer get? About $.066
-
This also does not look at the what it costs to actually operate a farm and pay to feed a cow. Most farms barely break even, they're not making money doing this.
-
My cousins still operate a small farm in rural Illinois. I get it. Farm worries drove my uncle to an early grave. I try to buy in a Farmers market if I can. But milk isn’t sold at these venues. Wonder why that’s so?
-
Regulations for food safety. That's why. It takes a lot for a farmer to run a sterile enough operation to sell milk directly to the consumer. Very few independent farmers are able to get that sort of status.
-
Well thank you. I obviously had no idea about any of this. Clearly I’m not a farmer and I don’t know any. I appreciate the information. And next time I’ll do some homework before I open my mouth! Have a good day

More subsidies for billion$ corporate farmers? How about an operational size limitation on subsidies to prevent corporations from taking tax-payer $? Help the family farmers, not corporations eager to buy up more small farms from troubled families

How about helping the farmers transition to non dairy farming? Dairy is so bad for people, can pollute our waterways and is cruel to the cows. Go with the future!
