After this terrible tragedy in Parkland, we’re seeing the same thing from Congress that we saw after Sandy Hook, after Aurora, after Charleston, after San Bernardino, after Orlando, after Las Vegas, after Sutherland Springs: complete inaction.

These votes are about keeping our children safe in schools. These votes will help keep people safe on the streets of their own communities. These votes will honor the tireless work of activists who’ve been speaking out against the scourge of gun violence for years.

I came from a hunting family and when I first came to Congress, I had an “A” rating from the NRA. But 9 years ago when I came to the Senate, I met with the victims of gun violence and listened to their stories.

The minute you meet a parent who’s lost a teenage child to gun violence, everything changes. From that moment, and for my entire service in the Senate, I’ve proudly voted against the NRA and have had an “F” rating.

Listening makes change. Learning from others’ stories makes change. That’s why it’s important that these courageous students are speaking truth to power. As I prepare to make our case to my colleagues tomorrow, I urge you to keep speaking out. Raise your voices. Call for change.

Damn. My browning 270 auto that i deer hunt with is a semi automatic. You’re better off pissing in the wind than getting semi auto hunting rifles banned. - with all do respect of course.

Yeah its not gonna happen. The amount of those type of weapons out their not everyone is gonna give them up. Only thing i agree with is the better background checks where they go more in depth
-
No doubt. Agreed.

I don't like taking my shoes off and giving up my bottle of water at the airport either But it makes everyone safer. It a sacrifice that is going to be painful and annoying but our children will potentially not have to do mass murder drills like when we grew up anymore.

You need to put a limit on amount of ammo bought in a 12 month time frame. If I can’t buy cold medicine in mass quantities, then we shouldn’t sell ammo in mass quantities.

Assault weapons is a made up term. Please stop using it as it distracts from your other points, all of which I, a retired law enforcement officer AND military officer, concur with.

There will be no banning of the most common guns in use today. If democrats cared about our children's safety they wouldn't leave schools unprotected.
-
Are you saying the answer is to send children to jail to learn? WTF is wrong with people? Children don't belong in jail.
-
Because banks, sporting events, basically anything that involves security is now considered jail?

I remember at least six bomb threats when I was in school. Will you ban cleaning products? Please pass feasible legislation and not just anti-them ideas.
