Ok, so no more PAC money. What about direct corporate donations from Wall Street and Big Pharma, to name a few? Will you still be accepting those?
-
-
-
Corporations aren't allowed to directly donate to candidates. PACs are *the* way that corporate money gets to political campaigns.
-
-
Okay, so how does that fundraiser prove that corporations can pay directly into campaign accounts?
-
For that matter, how does that fundraiser contradict anything that
@SenGillibrand is saying in this new announcement? -
I have worked for corporations that send their people to these fundraisers with money in hand to donate. These are coordinated efforts. And if you are unwise to that fact, you should get out of politics.
-
Okay, so is your contention that Gillibrand is knowingly participating in that kind of campaign finance violation? Because submit your complaint to the FEC if so. Otherwise don't make baseless accusations.
-
It is my contention that I won't trust a single one of these two sides of the face talking people until they stop accepting from corporations or corporate representatives. When they want to engage in grassroots fundraising $27 at a time with no name attached to it I'll be content

THANK YOU for leading the way, Senator! I’m very proud to have you represent us. Campaign finance reform is a crucial first step towards fixing what is broken with our government.
-
Leading the way? Bernie’s been doing this for the past 20 years.
-
Fine - how about “helping to lead the way”? I think we both can agree that this is a step in the right direction, from both Sen. Sanders and Sen. Gillibrand.
-
It's good that she gives legitimacy to what Sanders has been saying since whenever, 16 B.C or something
-
Hey - you’ll get no argument from me that Bernie has been ahead of the curve on this, and I meant no disrespect to him. If only twitter had an “edit” function…

Although it would be wonderful if Sen Gillibrand actually believes this, even if she doesn't, it's still a great thing. And worse case scenario, she is savy enough to realize that this is a strong political move. Good news.
-
I agree. Anyway you look at it, this is a good step. And I like this too:https://twitter.com/SenGillibrand/status/907589891533545472 …

These are good things, I agree but, I judge these people by sincerity, I certainly remember a young "progressive sounding" man running for pres in 2008. Gilabrand's record is much more conservative and she certainly has been courting the same donors as HRC. Call me skeptical.
-
She’s been increasingly progressive through her career, since she took over for Hillary. I don’t think she should be condemned for her learning curve when the trajectory has been pretty consistent. And she’s been a Jr senator a lot longer than Obama so the 08 comparison is unfair
-
Some are saying she’s not taking PAC money or corporate donations because she’s got a ton of cash on hand. The Obama comparison was about progressive rhetoric and not action. Time will tell I am skeptical, courting Clinton’s donors over the summer, so...
-
I hear you, but Hillary was certainly shown how moving left meant victory and she refused to do it even in a nominal away.
-
If she truly means it, then she should return all of the PAC money in her campaign coffers.
