25 years ago, the Family and Medical Leave Act was signed into law. It was an incredible step forward for millions of working families. Today, let’s renew our call for the next step forward: A national paid family and medical leave program. #FMLA25

The US has no federal paid family leave policy. 1 in 4 American women returns to work just 10 days after giving birth. This is a health & human rights crisis, & our great country can and must do better. I will fight to change this for American women & children. #FMLA25 #paidleave

I would not have been able to take care of my Dad for 3 months before he died w/o FMLA. I was so grateful to be able to do that w/o fearing the loss of my career.

I think it was bill clinton that said federal entitlements and grants is not a way of life. It seems to me, you as a senator is needy, always seeking loopholes to extort the federal government and the taxpayers.

Funny you should reference Clinton in disagreement, because it was the Clinton admin that fought for and won the Family & Medical Leave Act in the first place. It was a big step forward at the time; let's take the next step and make it stronger & paid.

It's not. A lot of companies can't afford stuff like maternity leave. Many can barely afford to pay out health insurance as it is. My thought is if this takes effect, many might have to cut hours, benefits, and even employees to make up for this extra expense.

OK. But paid for by whom? And how? And what will we give up to pay for it? Or do you just plan to raise taxes on the same families who will get the leaves?

Please create a national paid maternity and bereavement leave for all. I lost an infant soon many years ago, spent weeks in hospital, lost my job - which didn't offer benefits - & filed bankruptcy. My life was destroyed by that loss, and it took a decade to rebuild my credit.

...our Contract! This is WHY we need Unions in our workplaces! They should be treated like a Democracy where one small person doesn't have to stand up ALONE against the POWER of a Corporation! Thank you again to @CWAUnion for continuing to fight for Workers and their families!

I’m surprised that in the southeast we lived happily and contented without unions. Why and what is the reason for more rights and advocacy when we are governed by laws.

I have lived in both so called closed and Right to work States. From my prospective, workers in States that have strong Unions have higher wages, better benefits and usually have a better relationship with management because everyone is treated fairly.
