Memo to @SenBobCasey - Your Catholicism should have no place in your support for law. Let this remain between science, a doctor, and a woman's choice. Leave religion out of it.

Yes! Bring in the science. Science proves to us these 20 week abortions are literally babies capable of feeling pain that are being killed by ripping them apart. Absolutely bring in SCIENCE.
-
Science also says there are literally dozens of reasons that abortion at or after 20 weeks are medically responsible. In fact almost ALL abortions done after 20 weeks are for medical reasons and only 2% of ALL abortions are post 20 weeks.
-
And, please feel free to post your credible scientific or medical journals that show definitively that post 20 week abortions are subjected to pain.

Just to be clear, 99% of abortions occur BEFORE 21 weeks. The 1% that occur after 21 weeks are usually on the recommendation of a doctor to save the mothers life. So what the hell are we legislating? Letting women die?
-
Physicians can remove the baby after 20 weeks and give it a chance to survive. They don’t have to kill it.
-
But many aren’t viable because of severe fetal anomalies that aren’t detected until 20 weeks or after. It is still a decision left between a woman and her doctor. These are not easy decisions.
-
Agreed. In fact it is likely the most painful decision any person would ever have to make. The last thing they would need at that moment is some conservative scold moralizing to them.

One would think that 45 years after
#RoeVWade we would be able to move on from debating personal medical procedures.pic.twitter.com/qZTbQhXzjR

Is killing women the intention, or an avoidable consequence of this ban? https://www.npr.org/2017/05/12/528098789/u-s-has-the-worst-rate-of-maternal-deaths-in-the-developed-world …

This is such a red herring. So write the law that specifically includes provisions for medical instances. 21 week old babies live now with modern medicine. We aren’t living in the dark ages.

Exactly...

When is it ok to kill an unborn child? 3 weeks, 5 weeks, 20 weeks, up till birth? Where is our morality? Our humanity? I hope this bill will pass. It's another step into protecting the most innocent.

This just is not true

Please enlighten me, a health care professional, as to what part of
@SenGillibrand or this woman’s brave story isn’t true. -
The bill would not ban this. Not the story. My bad.

The far-right conservatives don't understand this! They're so rabid in their defense of "pro-life" but they aren't pro LIFE. They're pro-forced-birth, pro-oppression, pro-women-as-chattel. Women need to be able to make these difficult decisions w/ their doctor.
