I said this last night to @jonlovett, and here’s why: Institutions—colleges, the military, the NFL—don’t believe survivors, and shame or retaliate against survivors, to protect their own. We have to support survivors and take allegations seriously or there will never be justice.

Senator, serious question - what makes her claims “very credible”? I have no problem with valid investigations, but jumping to any conclusion - either way - should be discouraged. You are playing with a person’s livelihood and future - make sure you are right. Thanks.

I can't speak for Sen. Gillibrand, but what makes the story credible to me is that the statement is very detailed, without hyperbole or ad hominem attacks, and that she has told people before but did not herself release this story in the current situation. /
