What we need are more midwives (in non-problematic pregnancies) and fewer hospital deliveries. Unnecessarily delivering babies in hospitals contributes to post-partum issues for mothers and babies.

The AMA doesn't agree with you. The hospital is the safest space, has the lowest mortality rate, and FWIW most women who've opted for a midwife and didn't end up with PPD weren't predisposed to the condition in the first place. Don't spread misinformation.
-
I’m a registered nurse. Just b/ c the AMA says something is true definitely doesn’t make it so. They have a profit motive for everything. Maybe try doing some critical thinking instead of taking what you hear from the AMA at face value.
-
The AMA bases their opinion on the research, which just so happens to show that hospital births are safer than home births. It's a fact, and there is statistical evidence to back it up.
-
And - again - don't spread misinformation. You're shaming moms for delivering in hospitals by insinuating that their delivery method is to blame for subsequent PPD. That is not at all the case. Stop.

We need to stop looking at giving birth like medical procedure. Once you introduce pitocin , epidurals scheduled c sections you invite complications. More birthing centers, doulas, midwive funding please.

Also I went to NJ hospital but had a midwife ,no pain meds, one bag of lactated ringers and a few doses of ibuprofren....hospital billed 25000 to my insurance company. That was 11 years ago.

Then why don't you try single payer instead on bandaging a broken system?
-
Because that will take a while and this could save loves now. Why not both?

Where do you get your info from? That’s so not true and if you had any intelligence you would know that’s a load of crap! Stop lying to poor minority women . I guess because it’s your base you feel you can lie to them and get away with it! Women are NOT dying You fool!

I’m sorry but it’s actually true.https://www.npr.org/2017/05/12/528098789/u-s-has-the-worst-rate-of-maternal-deaths-in-the-developed-world …

Mary, don’t apologize for being right! Own it, girl!! It’s a travesty what happens to women in this country! I almost died from an ectopic pregnancy- symptoms ignored by my doctor at the time. Women need a voice in healthcare!
-
Agreed. It’s absolutely shameful how our healthcare “system” functions. It’s a capitalist free for all with no safeguards built in to account for the healthcare professional’s biases, prejudices, and lack of meaningful continuing education.

1/My hope is that the funding will go to the places that need them the most and that community is active stakeholders within there care. Black women are dying at a disproportionate rate and allot of funding is being made available but black women led organizations that have been

2/ doing the work to address health disparities continue be left out and big orgs and corporations get funding. Creating equitable healthcare means there should be an equitable platform as well.

Also, you might want to be aware of serious problems with sexual assaults & maternity torture & abuse in labor & delivery wards towards the birthing mothers. I myself was abused. They threaten the mothers with lowering pain meds, surgery, & removing the husband from protecting.

More than 300,000 babies die each year by abortion simply because someone doesn’t want to accept the consequences for their personal choices. Are you an equally opportunity defender of life?
