The Main Street Employee Ownership Act will help workers grow their wealth by empowering our workforce to have ownership of the companies they work for. It’s good for American workers. It’s good for business owners. It’s good for our economy.

Working for a company does not let you become an owner unless you invest your money as you are getting paid for your time. If you aren’t satisfied with your pay take your talent else where. Private enterprise ain’t like Senate taxpaying get rich jobs

I don't undertand how you can implement this. I would like to know more. I'm a very far left liberal but how are you going to force companies--some of them public--to make employees part-owners?

Profit sharing’s been around for years. Workers who feel valued are more loyal & don’t leave. The cost to replace & retrain new employees is more expensive. Having common incentives w/mgmt & stockholders is smart financially. Forcing ST quarterly reporting prevents good LT policy

But how are you going to force companies? As an owner I would close it down before I let the govt force me to give up my blood sweat and tears. How bout the employees go into debt and work 24/7 to start their own business

Owners are not required to participate in an ESOP, so there’s no takeover. The bill is designed to help the employees finance the purchase of 51% of a company that wants to participate. Examples include a plant closure, where the employees want to purchase the plant from the 1/
