We lose hundreds of women to pregnancy- and childbirth-related complications in the U.S. every year. Our maternal mortality rate is the worst among developed nations. I introduced the MOMS Act because we need to do better. We need to do #MoreForMOMS.

How many children do we lose to abortion? 🤔

Fewer and fewer every year, especially since groups like Planned Parenthood work specifically to get women on reliable birth control that works for them.

So what’s the number of aborted babies?

You really can google this, you know. And while you're at it, google Colorado's birth control program that Republicans got rid of.

I do know the number and I know the trend. And I know that data shows that the best way to limit abortions is to provide access to reliable birth control which is expensive. And to provide social services to poor women who get pregnant, and that's also expensive.

The difference between me and you is, I'm all for making birth control cheap/free, making healthcare cheap/free, making family leave paid, subsidizing daycare, etc. I'm happy to work to limit abortion. You're not.

Sorry my ignorant friend but the federal budget provides over half a billion dollars of taxpayer money to planned parenthood the nations largest abortion provider each year. MONEY IS FUNGIBLE.

Planned Parenthood gets direct payments for procedures through Medicaid reimbursement. They don't just get cash.

        Replying to @exoren22 @amanda_pompili and

Fungible meaning books can be fudged to look like money was spent elsewhere — exactly the way PPH stats are kept - a call counts the same as an abortion so when the cost is divided the cost of a call = the cost of an abortion - lowering the percent cost paid for abortions

No, fungible does not mean that. And Planned Parenthood's books have been audited. No wrongdoing was found.

For most of us, it's called birth control. Democrats endorse it. Republicans oppose it.

We also need more access to prenatal care and family leave after birth.
