What does it matter that they’re women?

Just for starters, women make up over 50% of the US population (50.8 per 2010 census) yet only 19-26% of elected officials are women. Representation matters.http://www.cawp.rutgers.edu/current-numbers
-
But if a woman is governor, does that mean she ‘a not representing the men in her state. I’m black. Having black governors or representatives spread throughout the states but not where I am doesn’t help me be represented.
-
By representation I mean a seat at the table. Our legislatures should ideally look like our population. When you’re talking executive I guess one person can’t really literally represent the entire population.
-
I disagree. My ideal is that our legislature argues and advocates for the population of its constituents. Laws aren't made better because of the race/sex mix of the lawmakers. I make many decisions based in my sex, personal background, etc. Those decisions aren't necssarily good.
-
Laws are better when the people enacting the law, have an understanding of the lives/people they represent. That's the foundation of our representative democracy. It's a reason we elect local politicians. Our representative democracy is better when it represents the constituents.
-
I disagree with every single Black democrat in office or running for office. I disagree with them on many, many issues. How on earth has their skin color helped meIf they don’t represent my views?
-
I disagree with white people. Who cares? You never agree 100%. But if we had an accurate representation in congress, I doubt we would have ever seen poll taxes, red lining...because it would impact the community of the people in congress, who came from that community impacted.

How about people vote for the best candidate for the position? You're a woman and definitely not doing a great job for the citizens. Illegals yes, you will bend over backwards for them. But the citizens you could care less about.

Please help us say NO to one woman - Marsha Blackburn in TN - she is NOT one of the good candidates! Pres. Trump has endorsed her and she is all in on that crap. Ugh.
-
That's the only woman on the list with voting for, then. Stop

So we shouldn’t nominate them based on their policy positions regardless of gender?

The path forward is sound policy regardless of color or gender. You sound sexist and your tweet and account is being reported to Twitter

Of course you’d support a woman who once married her brother while married to another man to bypass legal immigration and who hates Israel. Nothing new here.
