On this day in 1965, the Voting Rights Act became law. We've come a long way, but we still have much further to go. Gerrymandering and voter ID laws targeting communities of color still disenfranchise many Americans. We must keep fighting to protect everyone’s right to vote.

I am so tired of you politicians sending out tweets that we need to, we should, this and that needs to be done. We voted for you to do it! Stop all this talking and start doing your jobs.

Why do you think black people aren’t intelligent enough to show an ID??? You are the racist for thinking that.

Yeah because a lot of elderly folks have expired IDs and no feasible way to get to a DMV, especially in rural areas. Elderly rural voters aren't lefties either. We're preserving Nana's right to vote even if we don't agree with her. You should do the same. #VotingRightsAct

That's correct. In the 19th and 20th centuries we had poll taxes and literacy tests, now we have voter ID laws, disenfranchisement of felons, and gerrymandering, and history will reflect that the Voting Rights Act of 1965 did NOT mark the end of the fight for the right to vote.

Voter ID is not targeting anyone you idiot. The other way around, it comes to protect our democracy from voter frauds and secure ones his/her right to vote once equally as any other citizen.
