This proposal would force American workers into an impossible position. To take paid leave now, you would have to trade it in for the Social Security benefits you’d need later. And if you need to care for a sick or dying parent, you’d get nothing.https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/economy/rubio-introduces-plan-to-use-social-security-to-fund-family-leave/2018/08/02/44289d72-967b-11e8-80e1-00e80e1fdf43_story.html?noredirect=on …

Rich companies who CASHED IN ON TAXSCAM should be paying for Maternity and also Family Leave. Federal jobs don't pay for it, but you can take off. Never were people encouraged to tap into Social Security, it's not a rainy day fund for this, it's for old people.

“This is important legislation. It is also unique,” Rubio said. “This is a dramatic readjustment of the way we deal with economic insecurity in the modern era.” The idea of mortgaging our future is not new, or unique, or dramatic. It IS a really bad idea though.

He's wrong, just like when he weakened ACA. Remember, right now employers are not paying into the fund, like Amazon & Uber. There could be a serious problem for people dumb enough to listen to him, those who will be to old to drive Ubers.

Looks like Rubio is on board with Paul Ryan's push to derail our social safety nets. Social Security and Medicare really have improved a lot of lives, but it seems they just can't stand the fact that Democrats implemented those plans.

Congress has taken our Social Security money to fund their budget problems. Instead of taking more, we want our money back.

Good grief, @marcorubio, before you Republicans took over, the budget was almost balanced and the Deficit was in check. Then you gave away a trillion dollars to the billionaires. Now you are trying to mess up Social Security.

Disastrous proposition! Rubio & friends need to stop thinking Social Security & Medicare are their bank! We need to strengthen these programs to face the deluge of retirees who will come into the system living paycheck to paycheck due to the consolidation of wealth by the 1%.
