This is wrong. This is discriminatory. This is a direct attack on our country’s efforts to pursue fairness and equality. Diverse voices and backgrounds only add value to our education system. We must stand up and speak out to ensure every student has equal opportunities.https://twitter.com/nytimes/status/1014164991824494593 …

It's worked to dumb down the entire education system and created an infrastructure that wastes more money than can be counted.

Only in the warped minds of the leftists is basing College admissions on the "applicants credentials" wrong - there is no clearer example of blatant racism then weighting someone's credentials because of their race #MAGA #MakeAmericaGreatAgain

Why is it wrong? Do you understand what EQUAL means? To a brain dead liberal equal means the scales are always tilted. Seats should go to the best candidates. How many better qualified kids don't get in?

There's an easy way to fix this. Anonymize the whole college admissions process. No names, no demographics, no interviews. Give each applicant a registration number and make that the only identifying piece of information.

That’s how all “merit” based admission/employment should be. Problem is the left has gone so far left with this topic. It will never happen.

I believe their intentions come from the right place of equality and fairness and acknowledge that there is institutional biases, I just completely disagree with their solution.

@SenGillibrand - you IMMEDIATELY called for Al Frankens resignation based on unfounded claims (later proven false)! You need to call for @Jim_Jordan 's resignation for allowing 2000 boys to be molested. He was a MANDATORY REPORTER and knew!

Sorry I disagree. If a higher education facility demands you meet a certain standard of excellence for admission: the color of your skin, your religious beliefs, your sexual orientation, etc. should not matter. Holding everyone to the same standard is NOT discrimination.

I worked for Yale University for eleven years and saw the efforts made to provide an ethnically and racially diverse faculty to a similarly diverse student population. AA is working per Wikipedia http://shorturl.at/hLN38  and College Data http://shorturl.at/auzR2 .

Diversity should not be achieved by lowering standards for certain groups. If we do so, we actually imply that certain groups of ppl are inferior to others and need special treatment .

Groups of people are treated as if inferior. Children in schools without heat, teachers, materials as argued in the case fighting for literacy. AA aimed to give kids a chance. A good education for all children will build a strong future for them and our country.

Interestingly, Asian immigrants don’t seem to inspire the same fear and loathing that other immigrant groups did upon arrival-Italians, Irish, African, Mexican, Syrian etc. Instead they are regarded as intelligent and hard-working.

I happen to know several Chinese & Korean immigrant families , they came here with nothing, often worked 50 to 60 hrs per week, they didn't do drugs , they didn't get any welfare checks, and they didn't get any special treatments, yet they succeeded in all aspects of life.
