Ripping children from their parents and locking them in tent cities is a new low for this presidency. We should call these what they are – imprisonment camps. And it’s happening in our own country. We can’t let this become who we are.

First: Obama put kids in cages when he separated them from their parents. Where was your outrage then. Second: when a parent who is an #AmericanCitizens does something illegal, they get arrested & separated from their kids! Are you saying that a non citizen has more rights??

Right on! So when American citizens go to prison their kids are separated from them. Why should Illegal Aliens who commit a crime entering the US get prefernece over American Citizens? Oh wait, the Democrats want the illegals to vote! #NoIllegals #DeportThemAll #SorryNotSorrypic.twitter.com/1Xlxin5rBD

You do realize the splitting of families is due to an Obama Administration policy correct?

You mean the policy change that was announced in May 2018 but yet stories of these practices can be traced back to at least 2012? I stopped seaching how far back after that. The policy change actually gets illegal immigrants in front of judges/prosecutors faster now.

2 don't conflate separation of families and detention of unaccompanied minors We are creating unaccompanied minors now when we separate them

Yeah I guess you're right. Instead of doing it at the border we just denied thousands of requests after allowing them in the country, and then deported parents funneling children into the foster system, which has also been linked to child trafficking..... https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S187035501371783X …

The children and parents were not separated, if asylum request was denied, they were generally deported together.

Gillibrand is also a _typical_ leftist. Says anything to claim the "moral high ground" in the moment, but will totally reverse herself with _no shame_ the moment it's expedient to do so.

Isn't @POTUS using the immigration laws that were on the books when he took office ? They should have been enforced for years which has led us to this problem after Obama invited the world to come here to increase the democrat voter base.

No the policy of separating refugee families was instituted by Trump and Sessions. There is no law mandating this, it’s cruel and unusual punishment and makes the US the moral equivalent of repressive dictatorships worldwide. It’s a disgrace! #HumanRightsViolations

But yet anyone else in the country commits a crime , their kids are not permitted to stay with them. Not sure what other countries immigration policies are but , I know that they are stricter and they are actually enforced around the globe.

Seeking asylum isnt actually a crime, but Trump/Sessions decided start charging asylum seekers with the misdemeanor crime of crossing the border, ridiculous. That’s what they’re using as justification to crab babies and children from their parents. #HumanRightsViolations

Not naive, I know what America is capable of and how we’re failing to live up to the ideals we’ve long cherished. If you believe in cruelty towards defenseless children I can’t reason with you, you’re morally bankrupt. Look inwards and you might find your soul it needs rescuing.
