Trump nominees have been incredibly young, allowing them to reshape our courts for generations. Nine of Pres. Trump’s first 15 confirmed circuit court nominees, or 60 percent, are in their 40s. By comparison, only one of Pres. Obama’s first 15 confirmed nominees was in their 40s.
In order to stack the courts for generations, Republicans are dismantling a Senate tradition that ensures consultation and consensus with home-state senators. Through advice and consent, the Senate is meant to be a check on the president, not a rubber stamp.
So here is the deal senator. McConnell has now said he will not follow his "no vote for Garland" rule in 2020. You can't win at chess with someone who flips the board when they lose. You need to grind things to a total halt until norms are restored starting like a year ago.
They will not follow the norms unless you guys make them NEED THEM BACK. They will continue to wipe with the Constitution for as long as they can get away with it, and you guys are not using every tactic and allowing historic shaping of society.
