Today, the National Memorial for Peace and Justice opens in Montgomery, Ala. It documents our country’s history of white supremacy and lynchings, one of the least recognized atrocities in our past. This is a historic moment and an acknowledgement of a past often forgotten.

There is also a museum in Birmingham across the street from the church where King's march started. It is also very moving and I was impressed that a southern state would acknowledge its wrong past.
