President Trump’s trade war will hit California farmers hard. $2 billion worth of CA exports—including all exported almonds, walnuts, raisins, plums, grapes, kiwis, dates and figs—will now be subject to a 15 % tariff when exported to China. How does that protect American jobs?pic.twitter.com/BntyP2KXcl

Farmers here in the heartland voted for T. in massive numbers. Farmers here in the heartland are going to have their hearts and pocketbooks broken by T. in massive numbers. They're turning their ire on him w/China's announcement of the soybean tariff. You get what you pay for.

Farmers and communities in CA's agricultural belt - the "Central Valley" & Sacramento - is CA's "heartland" and also voted for Trump & his GOP enablers. Ironic that they'll suffer along with other US farmers & heartland folks. So many voted against their own interests.

Dumpy is jealous of California's success. He's trying to break California.

This is off point, but I kinda think we should allocate our precious water to uses other than private farmers making money by growing stuff to sell to China.

Not off point in the least! It is a ridiculous use of our water at great cost to biological diversity in one of the most diverse places on the planet. Grow a new, green economy! Unlimited agriculture growth such as you cite here is unsustainable.

Interesting how that whole part of the state is like our version of heartland+bible belt. The Central Valley & Sacto area went for Trump and remains a GOP stronghold. Hate to say it, but they're getting what they deserve. Let "Big AG" lobby against Trump.

Rural conservatives are not likely to turn on Trump just because he hurts them in the pocketbook. They may be delusional, but they believe Trump is a patriot, regardless evidence he's merely self-interested.
