I’m worried that my colleagues may have forgotten where the path of deregulation ends. I oppose this bill for the simple reason that it goes too far in weakening the protections we put in place to prevent another financial crisis.

Someone needs to remind us all of how much money Congress has spent bailing out these same financial institutions in the past. "Too big to fail" sound familiar? Enron? Mortgage market implosion? The big guys (banks) get protected, the rest of the country struggles for years.
