The assault weapons ban was effective. When the ban was in place, the number of gun massacres fell by 37 percent. The number of people dying from gun massacres fell by 43 percent. Republicans blocked an extension of the ban. We're fighting to reinstate it. #StudentsStandUp

So let me get this straight. An 18 year old can hold a weapon and be sent to fight and die on your behalf to protect us, but you don’t think he/she should be able to own a weapon of choice for sport shooting, boar hunting, etc.? Who made you the arbiter of what people get to own?

A buy back program as was done in Australia and elsewhere would also help decrease the number of assault weapons.
