Great editorial from @LATimes on why we must expand federal protection of our California desert. http://lat.ms/1OSmNqH  #ProtectCADesert

@OBRCarClub @SenFeinstein @latimes Yep. And Trump wants to keep it that way...says states can't be trusted to manage their own land. 😝

@Ducks4Scott That's not true. Monument designation means these lands stay open for hunting, fishing (in Sand to Snow) and other recreation.

@Ducks4Scott Yes, but as proposed these monuments would remain as part of BLM & open to hunting, ORVs, grazing, etc. just as today.

@Ducks4Scott Re: mining, proposed monuments wouldn't hinder existing mines, would honor existing claims. No new claims, though.

@Ducks4Scott The Senator's staff worked with existing mines to address their concerns. That is why no mining companies oppose this proposal.

@SenFeinstein @latimes I drove through many hundreds of miles of this desert in 2015. Enforce poaching laws.

@Ducks4Scott I do. POTUS established 2 large BLM monuments here in NM (2013, 2014); both remain open to recreation. http://www.ammoland.com/2016/01/sportsmen-present-path-forward-for-national-monument-proposals/#axzz3yg7J9BUz …

@SenFeinstein @latimes Govt is a non-entity, as such cannot own real property. Dept. of Interior steals land from our citizens illegally.
