More government regulations that increase costs to airlines which then get passed on to travelers doesn't really do anything useful. The fact is airlines not practicing safety & killing their passengers can destroy an airline, not to mention repeat business. 1/2

It's in an airline's best interest to practice the utmost of safety precautions to ensure continued business. 2/2

Reasonable hypothesis: problem was pilot error by foreign airline pilots. Thousands of hours flown domestically by domestically trained pilots without a crash or major incident. Look for change. 2 planes flown by poorly trained foreign pilots.
-
Any beginning pilot knows that if it stalls to put the nose down and add power. Stall fixed. They pulled up and made it worse. Didn’t know how to fly airplane without autopilot

Airline culture? You know that American Airlines demanded a re-engined 737 from Boeing and that that's what's led to this fiasco, right? Boeing was served an ultimatum. It's clear they didn't do enough to stand up to it, but the US airline industry was very much behind it.
