So stupid, misleading and ill informed. A .223 cartridge fired from an AR style rifle has the same energy as if fired from a single shot rifle. If there’s any case to be made it’s magazine capacity not the rifle.

The mass shooters weapon of choice is semiautomatic & accepts detachable high capacity magazines. Let’s trade them in for the M1 Garand that only accepts 8 round clips. This rifle is the backbone of the Civilian Marksmanship Program & it’s not mass slaughter friendly.
