Thank you! 38 year old boat with only one entrance/exit into a crowded sleeping area combined with fuel, O2 tanks, air compressors, probably need improved fire detection/suppression, flame retardant materials and no more grandfathering old boats.
It’s inconceivable that with all the safety regulations we have in place today, a fire on a boat can lead to the loss of life we saw this morning near Santa Cruz Island. I agree!!!! We do not know circumstances but I would never sleep on a vessel below deck that did not have escape hatches . Our sailboat of many years has three hatches thru out the length of boat and it is only 32’. Plus primary entry hatch. This accident makes me so sad

So the boat captain and crew all immediately bailed from the boat and swam to the nearby shoreline? WTH? Didn’t they have the responsibility of getting all the guests off the boat before themselves? If true, I want them behind bars for criminal negligence. This is just horrendous
