It’s been five years since a shooting in Isla Vista killed six people and injured 14. It’s long past time we pass commonsense gun laws like extreme-risk protection orders, which could have helped prevent this tragedy and others like it that continue to occur in our country.

How many times do we read about mass shootings, then find out how these people got the guns despite the laws already in place that should have prevented them from the guns to begin with? New laws don't work if other laws are ignored.
