Republicans are moving forward with Daniel Collins’ nomination to the Ninth Circuit despite objections from me and @SenKamalaHarris. Collins has a history of undermining civil and reproductive rights, even working to restrict access to birth control. California deserves better.
This nomination is moving forward despite the fact that we identified candidates that the White House had selected that @SenKamalaHarris and I said we could support. That’s how this process is meant to work: meaningful consultation with home-state senators.
Unfortunately, the White House and Senate Republicans ignored decades of tradition in the Senate in order to pack the federal bench with partisan, ideological nominees whose views are far outside the legal mainstream. #ProtectOurCourts

Trump has been choosing excellent candidates for judicial seats. They refer to the Constitution & our laws, not their political philosophy. For equal justice, that is what we need. Those in power should not be able to overpower & thwart those who R not. ·
