The census is fundamental to our democracy. From representation in Congress to federal funding, its effects are felt widely across the United States. That’s why the #2020Census must not be politicized by the Trump administration’s efforts to include a question on citizenship.

making sure Americans are counted is bad? You Dems are playing the "How ridiculous can we get" game like a bunch of 5 year olds... I take that back even my 5 year old, half salvadoran son knows the dif between being an American & whats NOT. I bet he could write better policy too.

The United States Constitution mandates that the Census shall count the "whole number of persons" in the country, without regard for citizenship or immigration status. Having a citizenship question on the Census violates that mandate: http://www.scotusblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/Evenwel-FormerCensusBureauDirectorsBrief092515.pdf ….

I disagree with you. We need legal immigrants in this country not free loaders. Legal immigrants only and your state wouldn’t need 22 billion in federal financial support for California.

As a citizen I feel noncitizens should not be counted unless they are married to a citizen and have legal status. Why is that political if it sets up congressional districts that only citizens can vote for the representative?

I live in Texas and I can tell you that Hispanics are never going to be honest about how many people are living in their house because for many of them it would be against city code.
