It’s time to end the cycle of lurching from funding crisis to funding crisis and return to regular order. I hope the president accepts the agreement reached by congressional leaders last night.

Government shutdowns are dangerous, harmful and should never be used as a negotiation tool, period. The government must remain open and ready to serve, and it’s our job to ensure that happens.

Please make sure you protect those workers. They work too hard to ever be caught in the middle of a political storm. There were used by the president and hit by some of your freshman senators. We can't ever let that happen again.

If any of them pushes for a shutdown, tell them you'll send them an invoice for what it cost the nation to pay for the shutdown. The last one cost 5 or 6 billion? Send them the bill.
