As open enrollment continues, it’s important to remember that California has seen great improvements in coverage as a result of the Affordable Care Act. We’ve gone from a state with 16% uninsured in 2013 to 7% today.

Still, there’s more to be done. We need to expand coverage to those who still lack quality, affordable insurance. And we need to work to bring prices down so that people aren’t forced to make tough decisions on paying the bills or paying for medical care or medicine.

That’s why I support a public option based on Medicare and increased subsidies to achieve universal coverage. A public option would compete with private plans, offering lower rates, and providing real choices for consumers.

Government does not function as a business in any way. Businesses profit through the sale of products/services. Governments, by coercion, through taxation. If the costs are high, raise taxes. No incentive for anyone to lower prices. Subsidies only divert cost, not lower it.

Some people can't work due to health conditions. They need help. Even if you do work sometimes the cost of employer provided health insurance is way too expensive. There needs to be balance in health care. People need health insurance. Health Care is way too expensive.

Medicare is already killing us. The unaffordable Care Act is already a national disaster. Government is not competent to handle Healthcare. I only have plastic insurance rates have gone out of sight. Doctors are not allowed enough times to spend with patients. Kill a car fix it!
