As open enrollment continues, it’s important to remember that California has seen great improvements in coverage as a result of the Affordable Care Act. We’ve gone from a state with 16% uninsured in 2013 to 7% today.

Still, there’s more to be done. We need to expand coverage to those who still lack quality, affordable insurance. And we need to work to bring prices down so that people aren’t forced to make tough decisions on paying the bills or paying for medical care or medicine.

That’s why I support a public option based on Medicare and increased subsidies to achieve universal coverage. A public option would compete with private plans, offering lower rates, and providing real choices for consumers.

Your definition of quality doesn't mesh with reality. Still far too expensive to get care and far too difficulty to get quality care.
