Thank you! Yes! The first time I heard about this on NPR I was slack jawed at the idea that Verizon slowed down the speed & demanded more money right in the middle of one of (if not the biggest) wildfires in CA history. Don't let them get away with the "it was an accident" excuse

This was indeed the largest wildfire in CA history. To prevent being throttled again, I would urge
@verizon to develop a program with an on-call point person who manages accounts with first responders, in particular, during a disaster.#ThinRedLine cc:@sccfiredept - 1 more reply

This "demand" of Verizon is simply political.Throttling is standard automated practice when the data limits of a contract are reached. SCCFD reached 25GB and its data usage rates were slowed. Verizon should have reacted sooner to raise data limits, but legally did nothing wrong.

Sometimes we are talking about morality. And what Verizon did to SCCFD and to many of its own customers by extension is entirely immoral. Imagine Verizon HQ on fire and someone using horse drawn water trucks because they’re a gallon over limit.

My husband and I canceled our Verizon service that we had for a decade because of this. No explanation they give will be acceptable.

Verizon? All companies should not reduce speeds with an impending hurricane approaching.
-
There should definitely be exemptions for emergency response personnel.

“Unlimited “ should be UNlimited. Or it’s a lie. Please hold
@VerizonNews accountable nor just for first responders but for ALL of its customers.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

2/ VZN took too long to free up the block when they were told why the data was in use. Why Mendocino argued contract for days is what should be looked at.

bc they want you to pay a lot more for the same speed that you had b4 net neutrality . This whole thing is going to suck more and more. Hope ppl pay attention to their internet speed bc these companies already messing with it !
-
I’ve already noticed slower speeds.
