Protections that limit how long children can be detained aren’t “loopholes.” They’re guarantees of basic decency. We have children coming to our border who are often fleeing horrific violence. We shouldn’t deny them basic due process or humane treatment. #KeepFamiliesTogether

people fleeing violence do not want more drama and trauma so they abide by the law and come thru the normal channels - they do not try sneaking thru with coyotes in the middle of the night.

The lawful channel is to present yourself to a Border Agent at a Port of Entry and file for Asylum. Children are being separated from Asylum seekers even though they have committed no crime.
