You mean, the welfare recipients will be forced off the couch and into the workplace?
-
Excuse me, ma'am. I live in Florida. Most of the people that qualify for assistance DO work. However, their wages are so low (as a result of corporate greed) they still qualify for benefits. Translation: Huge companies are receiving another form of corporate welfare.
-
Their wages are so low because they're uneducated and work a min wage job
-
Actually, certified nursing assistants, who are required to be licensed fall into that category. They earn around $5 an hour over minimum wage and are still struggling. Florida used to be a cheap place to live, but not so much anymore. The wages certainly haven't kept up.

It takes 6-12 weeks to go through the cna program. You aren't going to live in comfort with that amount of effort. Lower your lifestyle expectations if that's all you're capable of doing,there's no shame in it.

By that rationale,
@JacobAWohl should be destitute. -
It seems Mr. Wohl works hard and is successful.

Where else is that money scheduled to go to?
-
It goes to other states that have expanded Medicaid. Also, Florida hospitals that aren't receiving the Medicaid expansion money are faced with writing off expenses spent on the poor and those who CAN pay are charged higher rates (including increased premiums).
-
But we don’t want to pay for people who can’t afford healthcare. Majority of people don’t realize that they infact pay for the uninsured now.
