I’m here in Putnam County, a county where more than a quarter of the residents are living in poverty. Met with local leaders about how rural communities need help to adapt to a changing economy.pic.twitter.com/EZgToUrQqb

That’s why I plan on introducing legislation when I get back to Washington that would refocus our tax laws on helping people overcome challenges like automation, globalization, and other long-term shifts in the economy.

We must create sustainable local economies that can adapt to a constantly evolving landscape, which will help places like Putnam County turn the page, and come out stronger than ever before.

Thank you for visiting us Senator. It would be nice to have a spotlight on our county. It is the poorest in the state of Florida, however we have so much to offer. I truly don't understand why our beautiful county, city isn't prospering.

Jobs- ala decent paying solar jobs. This growing industry needs low level installers, sales reps it can train, on the job by certified mgrs.

We just moved from Putnam County & my in laws still live there. The school system is horrible, teachers are amazing tho. We would have to drive about an hour to get to a good, clean grocery store. Either Gainesville or Ocala. More biz needs to go to that county & more funds.

About a quarter you say? Hmm, what could be the correlation... About that many people voted for Hillary Clinton. Wake up folks! Democrats like Bill Nelson are just more of the same. They don't care about the poor, they just want your vote. Once you vote, POOF they disappear!pic.twitter.com/0XKEi9yEii

Your only valid point is the 2nd sentence - dominant political mindset of the area is the cause of the problem. A quarter of the population there most likely will be able to figure that out. And another three quarters have potential to see reality outside of rose-colored glasses

Putnam residents would be best served to both ensure Senator Nelson holds his seat and change their local preferences to more progressive candidates.

Recent, notable & most important for NOW - Provided the only vote among Senators from FL to prevent stripping healthcare from those most in need. This ALONE justifies keeping him in Senate, esp concerning areas w/high numbers of low income residents such as Putnam County.

YOU are a failure. Your history is mass tweeting far-right propaganda even for issues LOCAL to different areas all over the country. I pay attention to what happens in Florida. I live here.
