I’m joining my colleagues to ask why the Army Corps of Engineers is drawing down the number of utility repair workers in Puerto Rico, despite many still without power in Caguas, Vieques, and elsewhere.pic.twitter.com/MQRhG3Szxz

Thanks Bill. I’m a Floridian and I wholeheartedly want life restored for OUR FELLOW AMERICANS in Puerto Rico. Also, please don’t let Rick Scott deny his role in the failed FIU bridge.

Another example of government failure! 8 years of Obama and a small Island Nation can’t even fix itself from disaster.

Hummm, I know Dems don’t like to “Draw down” when they see potential political talking points, but have you seen where those w/o power reside? Remote & difficult to reach areas. Need roads fixed. Corps resources better served in other places here stateside.

Over $36.5 billion given to rebuild. PR contributes abt $4 billion to US treasury. TX received 22 billion from FEMA after Harvey. TX & donations have funded much of the recovery. PR must assume more financial responsibility for recovery efforts.

Donations have helped with our recovery efforts as well. Unidos Por Puerto Rico, ViequesLove, Americares... just to name a few. Unfortunately, we need boots on the ground for electricity.

I agree ppl are needed. Visited San Juan in January and was amazed at the resilience of the ppl. Not sure Corp of Engineers is who is needed but electricity must be connected or generators provided.

There were contractors through USACE that were not renewed. It wasn’t just men from USACE that are leaving, it’s their contractual help that has left, plus even stateside utility workers. We went from 50 men to 17 on Vieques with 100s still without power.

🤦🏼‍♀️ we can’t just start climbing electric poles. Vieques has a smaller population and literally has 4 guys based off our island. People need power. We need boots on the ground. There was a municipality that did do it themselves, but they had enough retirees to do it.
