These military-style assault rifles inflict such severe damage, they should be relegated to the battlefield. They simply don’t belong on our streets.https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/04/health/parkland-shooting-victims-ar15.html …

Senator, it's a rifle round. Watch any # of YouTube videos comparing the .556 to .308, 30-06, 30-30 (all used in mass shootings) & you'll see how low it is on the spectrum. Yes, it's devastating vs pistol calibers but quit painting it as some "super lethal" bullet.

No need to over-hype it. The AR-15 is cheap (both gun & ammo), easy to operate, accurate, & made for quick reloading of high capacity magazines, making it a favorite of not only sportsmen but mass killers; so much so you want them off the street. Lead & end with the truth.

Actually this wound wasn’t from firing, this X-ray shows a bullet wound inflicted from a rifle. I’m not sure an arm could break in this type of way from the kickback!

Bill, the wounds are caused by the projectile. The rifle is the delivery platform. There are multiple delivery platforms for the same projectile that are not assault weapons. What's next. Anyway, what about doing something about he #PromiseProgram , that had a more direct cause.

Don't argue semantics. The force & speed with which that projectile is ejected varies from one weapon to another, so the point made still stands & you are are callous to believe anything should matter more than people's lives.

Which bullet is safe. Is the 5.56mm/.223 bullet more dangerous than a 300 Weatherby? You are 19 times more likely to be stabbed but as reported by the CDC firearms save an estimated 500,000 - 3,000,000 lives each year.

You call call what you want. However, you can check it out for yourself. The information is from the CDC. The mere introduction of a firearm to situations have deterred many would be rapists and murderers and not a shot fired.

But then goes to to conclude from a series of 13 other surveys that the number of defensive gun uses to be closer to the 2,5M number. However peer review of this calls their methodology into question, for example Hemenway, 1997 https://scholarlycommons.law.northwestern.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=6936&context=jclc ….
