1000s of hotels/restaurants in PR will go bankrupt & homes foreclosed due to lack of tourist $. The buildings & furnishings are there, oceanfront location, just no reliable power. What if someone is purposefully delaying the grid fix to create distressed properties to buy cheap?

It is sad that this has been used as a political tool from GOP Congress, instead of a Humanitarian one.Only a matter of time when another one comes and hope this time the response is 100% better and no more lives lost that could have been saved.

As non US federal income tax paying residents of the territory, isn’t their care Puerto Rico’s responsibility?
-
They're American citizens, dude. Is there some other group of American citizens that you'd write off? Do you think FEMA should check someone's tax returns before offering assistance? What about the Coast Guard? My God man.
-
Didn’t say they weren’t citizens, but they are not residents of the US proper so they pay no income tax. They pay taxes to the territorial govt of PR, who is responsible for them. Bill Nelson is trying to curry dem votes by extending US fed dollars to them.

You also need to take of actually Florida Constituent and a USN Veteran. Who being delayed for nearly 4years by Social Security and a social security Doctor said in November 2016, your Disabled and still not paid by SSA now call me your staff has my number
-
That is not unusual:( Most people wait up to 5 or 6 years! It IS unconcionable, but they act like it's THEIR money:/
-
It is ridiculous, as a SSA Doctor review medical records from 7-27-2014 opinion Disabled and was in November 2016 and sent a interogorty to SSA Judge and went against a SSA Doctor that SSA sent the records to in California from Florida. Now in Federal Court.

I understand that these families need help desperately, but why is hardly anyone talking about the help needed on the island? Is it because we don’t matter until our feet touch the mainland?

If Puerto Rico was not such an example of Political Corruption, waste fraud and abuse of support dollars for decades it would be easier. It is like investing in Yugo factory. Many taxpayers see it as more bad investment. Who is going to manage dollars?
