.@realDonaldTrump is placing the views of extreme partisans and special interests above the overwhelming judgment of scientists. Meanwhile, our children will continue to get sick, more wildfires will rage throughout the West, and more storms will damage our coasts.

@POTUS should embrace a lasting policy that makes the air cleaner, addresses climate change & provides real certainty for businesses. In absence of this leadership, Colorado will reduce emissions, grow our clean energy economy & safeguard the environment for the next generation.Show this thread

If only we cared nearly as much about the millions of fast food workers as we did for 50,000 coal miners working a dying industry.
-
Coal Powers nearly 40% of our Electricity... how is it dying? Most Coal mines are above ground these days, not your Grandaddy's Coal.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coal_power_in_the_United_States …
-
I’m not saying coal doesn’t have a place in the energy system. I’m saying fewer abs fewer PEOPLE work mining coal. It’s largely automated or mountain top removal, and natural gas is replacingit fast. Yet we bend over backwards to cater to this dying industry.
-
There are 375 THOUSAND people working in solar alone. What’s next, we’ll revive the horse and buggy industry?
-
Here are coal mining jobs reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics - 53,100 (provisional) for July, 2018. Additional jobs added since August, 2016 are primarily related to anthracite coal exported to other countries for steel production rather than domestic consumption.pic.twitter.com/ibf2rFdDNF

Thank goodness we have one sane senator.
@SenCoryGardner this is what leadership looks like. -
Sane senator Mary? He just tweets things to stir stuff up. Sen Gardner is doing just fine! Thanks for your opinion though.

Coal mines can catch fire and burn uncontrollably. Isn't there a place like this in PA? I think CO has one outside Glenwood Springs. Coal is NOT needed or wanted.

Wow, two Tweets in a row where I agree with you sir. Our home has been solar powered for over five years. Could not be more happy, generating far more power than we consume. Coal had its day. Key word being "Had."
-
At this point it's still has, not had. However, as technology improves that will slowly change. BTW, what did your solar cost you? It can eventually pay for itself but, what was the up front cost?
-
-
Of course not all Americans have the geographic advantage to do this (advancements may change that also) but, for those that do it should be a no-brainer. Are maintenance and replacement costs factored in?
-
No maintenance needed in over five years. None. Zip. Nada. I was skeptical at first, but not anymore. Geography a factor yes. We have lots of sun in Colorado and our 24 panels have 90% southern exposure. But we generate even on cloudy days. Up next, Solar Battery.
-
That's encouraging news for a mild skeptic. Thanks for the info.
