In response to #SCOTUS gerrymandering decisions this week, introduced first federal legislation of its kind to explicitly prohibit partisan gerrymandering & give voters standing to challenge their state’s gerrymandered maps. #FairMapshttps://www.bennet.senate.gov/public/index.cfm/2018/6/bennet-introduces-bill-to-prohibit-partisan-gerrymandering …

Prohibiting partisan #gerrymandering is one of the most significant ways we can begin to fix our broken political system. The #FairMaps Act is the first step to enable citizens to regain control of their government.

DO THESE: 1. Stop gerrymandering 2. Restore voting rights to persons convicted of non-violent crimes. 3. Ensure voter registration of all citizens including free ID if required. 4. Prevent disenfranchisement e.g. purging voter rolls, closing of polling places in opposition areas

I say what would be more significant is very strict campaign finance reform, along with figuring out how elected politicians who make less than $200k per year in salary leave Congress with accumulated wealth in the millions.

Gerrymandering is wrong, unjust, and unfair — no matter which political engages in it. It needs to be abolished forever. #FairMaps

Ending gerrymandering is a great first step but we need a better way to stop the mess we have in the White House. End electoral college, end citizens united and hold the media to higher standards of TRUTHFUL reporting.

I agree with the sentiment. The problem is that Dems tend to form very dense clusters, while Rs tend to be more diffuse. That is a problem in WI, where Milwaukee and Dane County are 70%-80% D and rest of state is 52%-53% R. D vote tends to naturally concentrate in few districts.

I don't see the fairness in #FairMaps. I see an underlying attempt to wrest control from one party. #GeographyMatters Take the decision making away from politicians entirely!!!
