So here’s a question, how can I tell the low grade cut oils from the real thing? Aren’t the manufacturers required by law to label all their ingredients? If not, isn’t that fraud?
-
They only have to list the names of the food ingredients, basic macronutrients, calories and fat breakdown. They don't have to provide lab results for acidity, and detailed polyphenol composition, which is what International Olive Oil Council uses to determine virginity status.
-
In order to get that information, you have to either ask the company for the national lab test results, or test the olive oil yourself (see: https://hannainst.com/hi3897-olive-oil-acidity-test-kit.html …). Most companies do not provide that information.
