If we wanna do a basic racial/gender breakdown, should be 3 white men, 3 white women, 1 black of either gender, 1 Hispanic, and 1 mystery seat (another Hispanic or maybe an Asian) We currently have: 3 white men 1 Black 1 Latina 3 Jews Jews have taken all the white women seats.https://twitter.com/SarahKSilverman/status/1045731206434676736 …

Can we ask why, in a country whose govt is meant to reflect the citizens it represents, ANOTHER WHITE MALE is the nominee at all?

The Kavanaugh seat, if we’re doing proportional representation of “who we are as a country”, could technically be the mystery seat. Fine: unfair. But let’s address the 3 Jews (there shouldn’t be any Jews on the SC going by “who we are as a nation” reasoning) taking 3 seats first

Why does 2% of our population get 33% of our Supreme Court seats? How’s that fair?

“But Judaism is just a religion!” Fine. Let’s play religious identity politics. We have 5 Catholics & 3 Jews. By “who we are as a nation”, we should have 5 Protestants, 2 Catholics, and 2 atheist/agnostic/irreligious justices. All other religions should have no seats at all.

And by the way: that last tweet was for the sake of argument. It is not “just a religion”. 1) they’ll tell you that themselves (I’m not white I’m Jewish) 2) Wikipedia even lists Jews on their world wide list of ethnic groups They are distinct & hoarding 33% of SC seats.

Another fun fact: 8 of the 113 Supreme Court justices that have ever served have been Jewish. 7%. Despite them only being 2% of population now & (as an example), less than half of one percent of population as recently as 1880. Right historical wrongs: no more jewish justices.

That is how this works right? “Well women & poc have been historically marginalized. Now is their turn on the court to make up for the past record.” Again: Jews already gobbled up 7%. To retroactively correct that, we can have no more Jewish justices til number balance out again

The first SC Justice was confirmed in 1789. 229 years ago. We have had 113 justices total. There have been 8 Jews. If we want that number back to 2% (to say nothing of lower percentages of Jews in US historically), we have to have no new Jewish justices til after 400th confirmed

Really puts things in perspective if we’re playing “the court should represent who we are as a nation by identity”. In 229 years we’ve had 113. To rebalance Jews just to today’s 2% number they “should” have, they shouldn’t be eligible again til after number 400. Maybe 500 years.

I am so hoping the next few seats are for right-wing Protestants. That's 'who we are' in America.

J's should know better than to complain about overrepresentation by other groups. They *really* do not want to open that door, since the next chapter will be sobbing and loud wails of "antisemitism" (aka embarrassing truths).
