Sure, but I think the British Isles, Scandinavia, and the Netherlands had a far greater sense of national identity from ~1000-1960 than they have today. Ofc, they likely had a special brew that led them to capitalism and liberalism,absent from the more tribal Eastern/South Europe

The baseline is genetically set but deviance is possible depending on material/enviro circumstances. I've moved in five years from mod. Dem. to NRx/AR combo. Perceived threat level vs. abundance... NW Euros of 1865 are about the same as now, genetically.
