History question: where were the Russians when Yugoslavia fell apart? The US, to their great shame, intervened against Serbia to save Muslims (9/11 was our thanks for the trouble btw). But was Russia too out of it at the time to tell the US to back off? Did they protest at all?

When Yugoslavia happened Russia was a country in chaos with a USA puppet (Yeltsin) as President. Today’s Russia will not tolerate intervention that would seriously hamper their essential sphere of influence (See Crimea move) but they’re not in the position to 100 % rival US yet.
