Other interesting thing: I’m looking at Gallup approval of Obama/Trump. Obama had 67% approval on his first day. This had eroded to 45% by this point in his presidency. Trump had a 45% approval on his first day. This has eroded to 42% now. According to Gallup. Media is failing.

Obama was not as popular at this point in his presidency as Trump is among his party currently. Dems were already disaffected by this point. O had 12% approval among Reps, but to those voters go pull the lever for a general Dem? I don’t know but I doubt it. The base votes.

Important Q did dems gain membership and did reps lose membership under both Admins
-
Dems lost big in both Obama midterms. Reps most big in 2006 under W. The conventional wisdom is the prez’s party loses congress in the first midterm they face. A trend that is rarely bucked. But Trump is a trend bucker.
